| Alagaesia Newsletter / Book 3 News! |
 Some pleasant news came today in Christopher Paolini's most recent Alagaesia Newsletter, which was sent out early this morning.
"I am pleased to tell you that the title of Book Three in the Inheritance cycle is Brisingr. Sometimes one’s first thought is best, and so it was with naming this book. After many months of trying to sum up a complex story in a single word, it struck me that I had had the name all along. For reasons that will become clear when you read Brisingr, this title is perfect.
Brisingr is an Old Norse word for “fire.” As you may remember, in Eragon, Brom uses the word brisingr to start a fire. This is the first time Eragon hears an ancient language word, a word of magic. Later, when Eragon is cornered by Urgals in Yazuac, he shouts “Brisingr!” to great effect (see Eragon—chapters "Revelation at Yazuac" and "Admonishments"). "
The cover, as many of you will already know, was originally designed for the Japanese edition of Eldest, which was split into two parts. In related news, the release date has been moved back three days to September 20th, 2008 at 12:01am, according to a press release on the official Inheritance Cycle website. Any more news that comes our way will be posted on the website immediately for your viewing pleasure. |

| Happy New Year! |
Though it may still be New Years Eve, I wanted to wish all of the fans of Shadeslayer.com a Happy New Year. Tonight I will be ringing in the new year with friends and family and I'm sure many of you will be doing the same.

| Holiday Greetings from Christopher |
Christopher sent out his most recent newsletter yesterday which recaps a bit on his decision to turn the Inheritance Trilogy into a Cycle. Along with warm wishes for a happy holiday, he tells us that this decision has set back the selecting of the title of the third book. As such, we (the fans) will know soon after he settles upon something. Attached to the newsletter was a nice picture of Paolini posing with the the Hawaii Nene Award plaque for Eragon.
